Daniel Farnham

I first found PCY Masters after moving to Cincinnati in 2020. I initially swam with the Masters program at ME Lyons because it was close to home, but after hearing so many great things about PCY Masters, I decided to give it a try. I've been hooked ever since.

My swimming journey began when I was 10 years old in Richmond, Virginia. I started in summer league before moving into year-round swimming, and that progression eventually led me to compete for the University of Kentucky.

Like many swimmers, I stepped away from the sport for about 10 years and tried just about every other way to stay in shape—with very little success. In 2016, I joined a Masters team in Memphis, Tennessee, and I haven't looked back since. What keeps bringing me back is the predictable routine of training and the relentless dedication that swimming demands. There's something incredibly rewarding about showing up, putting in the work, and continuing to improve.

I've been fortunate to swim with three different Masters teams, and I can honestly say that PCY Masters stands head and shoulders above the rest. The range of ability levels in the program is incredible, and it's inspiring to see everyone—from beginners to national record holders—training together. Our coaches deserve so much credit for building workouts that challenge every swimmer, regardless of experience. I also have to give a shoutout to the PCY staff. We always have lifeguards on deck, and the pool is consistently in great shape.

As for my favorite event? Short. Freestyle. Period.
