Claudia Multer

Claudia Multer’s swimming journey began at age 7 when she first learned to swim at the YMCA in Elgin, Illinois. After her family moved to Niagara Falls, NY, she continued to swim as part of her school routine, which sparked her lifelong love for the water. Over the years, Claudia swam in various locations, from the Catholic Club in Toledo, Ohio, to a commercial quarry, and later at Meadowdale in Hamilton, Ohio. Swimming was always a constant presence in her life, and she never lost her passion for the sport.

After raising her children, Claudia transitioned into the world of aquatics, volunteering as a YMCA coach, official, and ultimately becoming the Aquatics Director. This experience deepened her connection to the sport and helped her develop a solid understanding of swimming technique and coaching.

When she retired, Claudia found a new way to stay connected to swimming by joining Powel Crosley Masters. Though she’s never considered herself a competitive swimmer, Claudia enjoys the social aspect of swimming with others. Her favorite stroke is breaststroke, but she also loves focusing on improving all strokes, especially after recently mastering butterfly.

Claudia’s swimming journey is far from over. While she isn’t focused on competition, she has set personal goals to complete a legal 400 IM and 200 Fly. By taking small steps and embracing each challenge along the way, she continues to improve and finds joy in the process. Through every lap, Claudia’s swimming journey is a testament to the power of persistence, camaraderie, and a lifelong love of the water.
