I have always had a love of the water. Growing up and living in Cincinnati all my life, I learned to swim at Coney Island Sunlight pool. I also swam at the Cincinnati Recreation Mt Washington pool. As a teenager, I would swim laps the long way across Coney’s deep end. I guess I’ve been training long course for years now! Swimming always made me feel better: physically, mentally and emotionally. I taught swim lessons at pools around Cincinnati; Coney, Cincinnati Recreation and Larry Lyons YMCA. I have coached a pre-competetive team at the YMCA, Mercy Healthplex and Coney Island.

Swimming laps for 20 minutes used to be my workout. Jim would go to Master’s practice and I was amazed at the yards he would get in. Then I had an opportunity to join a coached workout at the YMCA. We would swim about 1000 yards. I felt so accomplished! Jim and I started swimming together and my endurance built. Our son was swimming with the Masters group at Swim Ft Lauderdale. My first masters meet was with them. Coach Marty put us in a family Medley Relay. There is a Swim Swam article about the event. This was just the beginning of a sheer love for Master’s swimming. The encouragement from coaches and team mates is so phenomenal! I met Chris Adamson at the Mardi Gras meet at Miami University. “Come join us at Powel Crosley” she said. And here I am! Enjoying the workouts Stacey and Mike and Bip provide is priceless. Swimming with my team mates is the crown of Master’s swimming.

Outside of swimming, I enjoy horses, hiking, biking, sailing and kayaking.
